Ethiopia: Addis Ababa and Maji
Our family arrived in Addis Ababa in 1954. I went to kindergarten while my parents studied Amharic. In 1956 we moved to Maji, the most remote of half a dozen towns where Presbyterian built clinics, schools, and planted churches. I started boarding school in Addis Ababa when I was ten, and left for college when I was 18. I went back in 1989 to teach in an Ethiopian girls’ school.
